Founded in 1894, Chatham Hall is an all-girl boarding school on a beautiful 362-acre campus just east of Chatham's Main Street. The school's history and the lives of its students and teachers are closely intertwined with those of the Town. Students come from more than 20 states and 10 countries. Recent graduates have attended Princeton University, The College of William & Mary, University of Virginia, UNC-Chapel Hill, University of Richmond, Davidson College and Trinity University.
Chatham Hall offers a strong, student-led Honor Code, opportunities to select from more than 15 AP courses, and the independent-study Discovery Challenge program. The travel program provides art, music, and government-themed trips to cities such as New York, Boston, Chicago and Philadelphia. In addition, students and teachers participate in study and enrichment trips in countries such as Costa Rica, France, Spain, and Italy.
The world comes to Chatham Hall, too, in the form of visiting performers and speakers. Recent guests include internationally acclaimed women such as Mary Robinson, former president of Ireland, and U.N. human rights commissioner and Nobel Peace Prize Winner Shirin Ebadi.
