Chatham High School is located two miles south of Chatham. The area served by the school is rural in nature with the exception of the town of Chatham.

The school opened in the fall of 1964 with consolidation of community schools. It currently maintains 80% success rate in the Commonwealth's four Standards of Learning core areas of English, math, science and social studies. Talented athletically, Chatham High boasts seven state qualifiers for wrestling in 2004, Region B qualifiers in 2004 boy's basketball and Regional runner-ups in baseball during the 2003 Group A state tournament
