West Piedmont Multi-Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan Update Adoption
The West Piedmont Planning District Commission has been working to update the regional Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, originally adopted in 2006 and last updated in 2016. The purpose of the plan is to identify potential natural and man-made hazards, understand our risks and vulnerabilities, and develop strategeis to address them.
The plan is schedul for official adoption on 8 August 2022 by the TOWN OF CHATHAM TOWN COUNCIL at a regularly scheduled meeting. The final draft of the plan can be viewed online at:

The Hazard Mitigation Plan includes the counties of Franklin, Henry, Patrick, and Pittsylvania; the cities of Danville and Martinsville; the towns of Rocky Mount, Boones Mill, Chatham, Gretna, Hurt, Ridgeway, and Stuart.
