Traffic Island Sponsorships

The Town of Chatham’s Traffic Island Sponsorship program remains successful due to ongoing support from Chatham’s business community. Program sponsors help maintain the green spaces found throughout the town in exchange for branding those spaces with their business logo or signage.

Our sponsors demonstrate a commitment to the community while strengthening their visible presence near the county seat. All green spaces in the program are located on Chatham’s Main Street.

The program’s island locations include:

  • 1st Chatham Exit Northbound US29 off-ramp, inside loop – An extremely visible and prominent location.
  • 1st Chatham Exit Northbound US29 off-ramp, bridge – A can’t miss location just past the offramp bridge heading into town.
  • Main Street and US57 East – A key intersection with a lot of traffic.
  • Edmund Giles Park (Main Street and US57 West) – A key intersection with a lot of traffic.
  • Competition Ally – While not a true traffic island, this location provides a signage opportunity on downtown Main Street. It Faces Pruden Street.
  • Rotary Park – A small park near the Pittsylvania County Administration office, on the corner of Main and Center Streets.
  • Hargrave Boulevard and Main Street – An outside curve in a highly visible location.

All islands are maintained by the Town. Signage is optional and must conform to both VDOT and County sign restrictions. Approval required. Signage is provided and installed by the sponsor. The program requires sponsors to complete a new annual contract for their island to maintain continuous sponsorship.
