Celebrate our nation's 250th national birthday with patriotic door decorations! The Town of Chatham, Virginia, is hosting a contest for the best dressed 4th of July door and porch in Chatham. Registration is FREE!
Decorating categories include both Elegant and Dramatic patriotic doors and porches. Each category has awards for first to third place. An overall 'Best of Town' winner will be selected from the two category winners.
Elegant doors and porches feature sweeping colors in buntings, drapes, and flags. The goal is a traditional look without being gaudy. You should, however, think big and be creative. What would the White House do? What cool stuff was done in the past? It is time to sleuth some old photos!
Dramatic doors and porches should be dramatic! Loud and proud is the name of the game. Add the bunting, drapes, and flags... then add tinsel, garland, and lights. And, that's not all. Get mega creative and surprise everyone. Create a color explosion of red, white, and blue. Make it fun!
All doors and porches must be located within the Town of Chatham, Virginia, to qualify. All doors and porches must be visible from their street. One location per registrant.
If you wish to judge this year, then please contact the Town Manager. Judges may be a registrant. Judges may not vote on their own door or porch.
Registration open from June 5 to July 1; Judging Thursday, July 2; Winners announced at Farmer's Market Friday, July 3.
