Join the Chatham Community for a pick-up effort supporting Earth Day April 22, 2026. From now until Earth Day, your Town extends extra help as we prepare to make our town lovely for Spring and to prepare for our 250th national birthday celebration on July 4th.

Earth Day Celebration
Join the Town of Chatham at noon on Wednesday, April 22, for an Earth Day celebration in Frances Hurt Park. Refreshments provided. Noon start.

The Town of Chatham extends the following services until Thursday, April 23rd.

Junk Vehicles Pick-Up
Do you need a vehicle gone? Call the Town Manager at (434) 489-4225 to have your junk vehicle removed for free prior to April 23rd. Please provide the vehicle’s in-town location, the make/model of the vehicle and the time that works for you. The Town Manager will coordinate.

Large and Heavy Objects Pick-Up
If you have other bulk debris, such as old refrigerators, tires, furniture, mattress, or other similar items not collected by Chatham’s regular garbage service, then call the Town Manager at (434) 489-4225 to coordinate a pick-up. The Town will pick those items up from your curb for free on April 21 and April 23rd. Unfortunately, workers will not be permitted to enter homes.

Brush and Yard Pick-Up
The town has established a regular maintenance schedule, which is Monday and Friday for all brush and yard waste. Tree branches must be under 3” diameter. Grass clippings must be bagged. Make piles for leaves, branches, and vines. Please have the brush and yard-waste ready prior to 6:00 a.m.

Let’s work together to make Chatham shine, reflect our community pride, and prepare for a great 4th of July Celebration!
